Your Delivery at Lankenau Hospital

Lankenau Hospital's Family Centered Maternity Units provide large private and semi-proivate rooms for eachmother and her family. "Rooming in" is encouraged and enhances the family centered approach. Our Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP) birthing suites give women the benefit of staying in one location throughout the birth process -- lowering stress and increasing privacy.

Each room containes a birthing bed, which is converted to position the patient for delivery, then returned to its original form after the baby is born. A fully-equipped operating room adjacent to the Maternity Unit is dedicated to patients requiring cesarean sections. A recovery area cares fo rth epatient after a c-section and for close obervation of high-risk patients.

Concealed equipment is brought out when necessary and each room contains a server station containing everything needed to monitor mother and baby's condition. Each room has a private bath, TV, and VCR and a chair/bed for family members. Families are encouraged to keep the baby with them as much as possible, however our skilled and experienced maternity nurses are available to help whenever necessary. 

After delivery, your baby will be taken to the newborn nursery for careful observation and any required testing. In addition to standard testing, all Lankenau Hospital routinely perform a hearing screening on your baby to check for any early problems.

As part of our family-centered philosophy, we encourage you to have your baby with you as much as you like, however we are always available to answer your questions and provide guidance during those first days. Lankenau Hospital have special security measures in place to ensure that proper identification is checked each time we bring you your baby.
