Stroke Care Research
Researchers are working to discover the cycle of cell biochemical events involved in nerves as oxygen is lost in brain tissue. Stroke research at
the Main Line Health hospitals is funded and directed through the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR)
LIMR is a free-standing facility on the campus of Lankenau Hospital with a faculty of 19 principle investigators and their
groups who study the diseases of aging including, cancer, heart disease and stroke. LIMR is one of the few independent medical
research sites in the Mid-Atlantic region. It conducts basic, preclinical and clinical research funded mainly by the National
Institutes of Health and other federal and private sources. Its rich environment for biomedical research and medical education
exists as a result of interactions between LIMR faculty, Main Line Health physicians and the Annenberg Center for Medical
Education. In addition, LIMR also sponsors research conducted in the Main Line Health Stroke Program, the Community Clinical
Oncology Program (CCOP) and the Morbidity and Mortality in Hemodialysis Program (HEMO).

discoveries from the laboratory bench to the patient bedside, helping extend the boundaries of human health and well-being.
