Lessen Your Fatigue!

Aside from feeling exhausted, fatigue can impact one’s sense of well being, ability to perform daily activities, relationships with family and friends, and the ability to cope with the illness as well as withstand treatment. It can also affect the way you think and how you feel. Focusing while reading, watching television, and talking to family or friends may also become difficult.

The Comprehensive Breast Center at Bryn Mawr Hospital has created a program which addresses cancer-related fatigue and includes innovative approaches for assessing and treating it.

Knowing the Signs of Fatigue:

  • Feeling like you have no energy, unrelated to activity or exertion.
  • Increased sleeping and feeling tired even after sleeping • Trouble concentrating
  • Decreased attention to personal appearance • Avoiding normal activities
  • Loss of interest in doing things you normally enjoy.

Program includes:

  • Sessions on how chemotherapy, radiation therapy, exercise, and nutrition are related to fatigue.
  • Exercise/stretching sessions: Overall conditioning, strengthening, relaxation, and stress

This program is sponsored by an educational grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
