WHAT WE DO
The Wound Healing Center at Bryn Mawr Hospital provides a systematic approach to wound management and healing, taking advantage of an interdisciplinary team of wound care specialists. Our staff consists of experienced qualified doctors and nurses who work together as a  team to bring you quality medical care with compassion, confidentiality and respect. You and your primary care physician are both important members of that team. The more you know and comply with the treatment plan, the more successful your treatment will be.

APPOINTMENTS
We see all patients by appointment and request that you call in advance to reserve a time. We make every effort to honor these time commitments and ask that you extend that same courtesy to us. On occasion, emergencies can cause delays and we will keep you informed because we respect your time. Please provide at least 24 hours advance notice if you will be unable to keep an appointment. We request that new patients arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled time in order to complete the necessary paperwork and to allow us sufficient time to answer your questions.

TELEPHONE CALLS
All patients are encouraged to call with questions about the care we provide. To assist with the many phone calls we receive daily, a voice mail system may answer, requesting you to leave your name, phone number where you can be reached during the day, and a detailed description of your problem or question. This allows your chart to be pulled and your question researched before your call is returned. A nurse case manager or other staff member will call you back at the earliest opportunity.  We try to minimize physician and clinical staff interruptions during office hours except for true emergencies.

HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS
We have great confidence in our wound healing specialists, ancillary services, and inpatient care available at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Should our patients require hospitalization, we will accommodate your preferences wherever possible. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care available to meet your needs.

REFERRALS AND BILLING
The Wound Healing Center is an outpatient department of Bryn Mawr Hospital; therefore we require separate referrals, one for the hospital and one for the treating physician. The physician is an independent provider and bills separately for his/her charge therefore you may receive two statements for a single visit. The referrals should include authorization to Evaluate and Treat. We will assist you in obtaining the proper referrals; however, ultimately it is the patient's responsibility to obtain them.

PRESCRIPTIONS AND RENEWALS
Prescriptions and authorizations for renewals should be requested during normal office hours. Prescriptions will be refilled by telephone as medically indicated.

INSURANCE
We participate with most insurance plans and will submit claims on your behalf for services rendered. Our staff will ask about your coverage during the telephone intake process and again at your first appointment. If you do not have insurance, you must meet with a hospital financial counselor prior to your first visit.  Please feel free to discuss any insurance questions with our office staff. Please notify us promptly of any changes in your insurance coverage, address, telephone number or employment.

FEES AND PAYMENTS
Co-payments are required by certain insurance programs and need to be paid at the time of your visit.  It is your responsibility to pay any deductible amount, co-insurance, or any other balance not paid for by your insurance company.

AFTER HOURS
If you find it necessary to contact us outside of our normal office hours with and emergency, the voice mail will direct you to contact your Primary Care Physician. In the event you feel that your condition has deteriorated and requires the care of a specialist you should proceed to the nearest hospital emergency room or to the emergency room at Bryn Mawr Hospital.  If you are experiencing a life threatening emergency, please call 911. Due to new HIPPA privacy regulations, if you are seen at another facility for emergency care, please be sure to authorize the facility to forward any medical information to our office for prompt follow-up care if necessary.
