If you're concerned about your heart health, the Bryn Mawr Hospital Health Center in Newtown Square, PA offers a wide selection of cardiology services on an outpatient basis:

Vascular Diagnostics
Non-invasive vascular studies provide diagnostic tools to help physicians diagnose blood flow problems throughout the body. All procedures are performed utilizing state-of-the-art ultrasound diagnostic equipment to examine the arms, legs, aorta, and carotid artery.

EKG (Electrocardiogram)
An electrocardiogram examines the electrical activity in your heart by recording the electrical impulses. These impulses form a certain pattern of waves and changes in that pattern can indicate a problem. This test will show if you have problems with your heart rhythm and may be used to diagnose atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, or other SVAs (supraventricular arrhythmias).

Holter Monitoring
A Holter Monitor is a portable EKG that provides doctors with a constant reading of your heart rate and rhythm over a longer period, usually 24 hours. Holter monitoring is used to detect abnormal heart rhythms while the patient conducts everyday activities. Patients are asked to keep a diary during this time to record any symptoms. The Holter monitor is battery-operated and has five to seven leads or wires attached to small, metal electrodes. Much like the electrocardiogram, these electrodes are attached to your chest and record electrical activity in your heart over a 24-hour period.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Cardiac Rehabilitation Maintenance Program is an ongoing program of exercise, nutrition, education and support groups designed to help heart patients continue to be independent, self-assured, symptom-free, and able to maintain a normal activity level after they have "graduated" from their initial cardiac rehabilitation program.  This ongoing cardiac rehabilitation program is recommended for people who have experienced a recent heart attack, angina attacks, or open-heart surgery.  Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation is customized to meet each patient's unique needs and is planned by the physician, the cardiac rehabilitation specialist and the patient.
