Anesthesiology provides general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for all types of surgical, obstetrical and neuro-surgical procedures. This department also provides pain management for post-operative and non-surgical patients using conventional methods, patient-controlled analgesia and other up-to-date pain control measures, as well as acupuncture and hypnosis.

Obstetrical Anesthesia
Specializes in anesthesia and pain control during childbirth. The hospitals have 24-hour, in-house anesthesia coverage.

Pediatric Anesthesia
Provides anesthesia and pain control for children.

Thoracic and Cardiovascular Anesthesia
Provides up-to-date anesthesia care for cardiac surgical patients. Specialized services include the anesthetic management of minimally-invasive cardiac surgery such as the Heartport Endocardiopulmonary Bypass System. Interoperative transesophegeal echocardiography is also available for cardiac surgical patients. The Section of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Anesthesia also specializes in anesthetic techniques which allow early extubation and rapid post-operative recovery.
