People Who Care For You

Our hospitals provide a wide range of medical services to meet virtually all your healthcare needs. From our extensive inpatient services to our wellness programs, all our healthcare services are provided by highly educated, qualified individuals.

During your stay, you will meet many members of our healthcare team. Each of these individuals is a dedicated professional whose primary concern is your good health.

All hospital employees are required to wear identification badges which display the employee's name and job title. You have the right to refuse service from anyone not properly identified.
In addition to your attending physician and primary nurses, you may meet:

  • registered nurses who focus on patient assessment, treatment, monitoring and teaching for you  and your family;
  • patient care technicians who assist the registered nurse by taking your vital signs, assisting you  with eating and activities of daily living, taking your blood and other specimens and assisting with  some of your testing;
  • patient care assistants who support your care by attending to your environmental and dietary  needs;
  • consultants at the request of your attending physician;
  • medical house staff who are licensed physicians receiving postgraduate training. House physicians  are supervised by your attending physician.
  • medical students from area medical schools who train under your attending and resident  physicians;
  • physician assistants who have a college degree, two years' training in the health profession, and  are nationally certified and state-licensed assistants to your physician;
  • nurse practitioners who have a bachelor of science in nursing and additional college education and  are nationally certified;
  • case managers who work collaboratively with the medical staff, multi-disciplinary patient care  staff, you and your family to effectively coordinate care throughout your inpatient stay; and who  assess, plan and implement an appropriate discharge plan to meet your individual health care  needs;
  • social workers who can assist you and your family in dealing with discharge planning and the  psychosocial problems that may result from hospitalization and illness;
  • chaplains who are available to assist you and your family with your spiritual needs and concerns;
  • home care coordinators who arrange for professional medical services and equipment to be  provided in your home; and
  • student nurses from local colleges and universities.

Other members of your healthcare team may include:

  • diagnostic staff who will perform any diagnostic tests prescribed by your physician;
  • therapists who are specially trained to aid you on your road to recovery;
  • patient transport team members who will escort you to the appropriate area for your diagnostic  tests or treatments; and
  • hospice staff who may provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care for seriously ill patients and  their families.

Working behind the scenes in the pharmacy, nutrition, environmental services, maintenance, security, administration and many other departments, are many other dedicated individuals, all of whom are here to serve your needs.

In addition to our fine staff of professionals is our corps of dedicated volunteers. These men and women work throughout the hospital, visiting and transporting patients, providing information to visitors, and performing many other duties.
