Lankenau Hospital Lisa Nutter Special Guest at Lankenau's Annenberg High School Symposium (WYNNEWOOD, PA; April, 2008) -- Lisa Nutter, President of the non-profit Philadelphia Academies, Inc., and wife of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, was the special guest speaker at the Annenberg High School Science Symposium held in the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Conference Center for Medical Education at Lankenau Hospital in March. Among the high schools participating were Abraham Lincoln and Overbrook Highs Schools; public schools supported by the Philadelphia Academies. Other schools participating that evening were Friends' Central, Lower Merion and Merion-Mercy. The symposium is a unique partnership teaming physicians with high school students and their teacher advisors. Students are challenged to study a scientific discovery and present it with an element of the creative arts - such as music, dance or theatrical drama. The Annenberg Center coordinates the annual project that this year involved 150 students from 12 highs schools located from Philadelphia to Chester County. Presentations were also held at Bryn Mawr and Paoli Hospitals, which along with Lankenau Hospital are part of the Main Line Health System. The program was partially funded through a $15,000 grant from Merck & Co. Inc., lead underwriter.
