Get Involved!

Are you looking for a meaningful and rewarding way to provide a valuable service in your community? Mid County Senior Services has many opportunities for people like you to help support our mission of supporting older adults to remain living in their own homes independently and safely.

Volunteers come from all types of backgrounds and alla ges are welcome. There are opportunities for people who are interested in making a long-term committment as wel as people who have a community service requirement to fulfill. Groups, schools, churches and businesses that wish to organize a community service day are all welcome.

Chore Connection - Volunteer Home Support
Through Chore Connection volunteers help low-income older adults with household chores and transportation.

  • Escorted transportation: volunteers drive older adults to medical appointments
  • Grocery shopping: volunteers take older adults shopping or go shopping for homebound older adults
  • Household chores: help with light cleaning, even windows!
  • Yard work: volunteers mow lawns, trim hedges and bushes, rake leaves and help with yard clean-up
  • Minor home repairs: install smoke detectors, paint, small plumbing jobs, and other odd jobs
  • Office help: volunteers also offer their time in the office answering and making phone calls, writing newsletters, sending out mailings and other valuable work

Do you have yard equipment, such as a lawn mower, weed whacker or hedge trimmer, which are still in working condition? Consider making a donation to Chore Connection. Many older adults do not have their own yard equipment and some volunteers are willing to help but do not have equipment that they can transport. With your donation, we can provide more services to more people.

Volunteers help keep older adults safe because with help, older adults will not risk doing the work themselves. Also, older adults can avoid adding an increased burden to their already limited budgets. (Call Lynn Shelton at (610) 353-6642 for more information.)
