Rehabilitation: Helping People Regain Their Lives After Injury, Accident or Surgery
The focus of rehabilitation is to help patients resume their activities after they have suffered a stroke, brain injury, cardiac problem, amputation, or other injury or accident, or if they have undergone surgery. Services are offered in the hospital, on an outpatient basis or at home. Services may include physical, occupational or speech therapy, as well as help in using prosthetics or other assistive devices. Rehabilitation professionals also offer home visits to evaluate the safety of the home and recommend modifications and equipment as needed.
