The Bryn Mawr Hospital Radiology Department is a full-service department offering the complete range of imaging studies and interventional procedures. The department
offers a warm, open and friendly atmosphere where our residents, faculty, and staff flourish. We are proud of the care we
provide to the patients in our community and the excellent educational experience we offer to our residents. We are able to
accomplish our goals due to a combination of the high level of expertise of our staff radiologists, the state-of-the-art equipment
in our department, and the profound dedication of our support personnel.
Bryn Mawr Hospital added two GE Lightspeed 64-Slice CT scanners in 2007 (one in the Emergency Department and one at our new health center in
Newtown Square). In Ultrasound, we have four state-of-the-art units equipped with color Doppler. In Fluoroscopy, one of the
two rooms allows remote fluoroscopy; the other houses a digital fluoroscopy unit. The interventional section offers the full
range of both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
The Siemen 1.5 Tesla Open Bore Magentom provides comfort to our larger patient and claustrophobic patient without sacrificing
high-field technology. This MRI joins the GE 1.5 Telsa Magnet with all of the latest software. Both units provide outstanding
images of the routinely studied areas such as the brain, spine, knees and shoulders as well as the more specialized areas
such as MR angiography, breast, prostate and temporo-mandibular joints. They also allow us to do state-of-the-art magnetic
resonance angiography and echo planar imaging.
In 2006, Bryn Mawr Hospital added the Philips Gemini 16 Slice PET/CT Scanner with Brilliance 16 Power CT technology, the world’s
first and only open PET/CT scanner, produces both functional and anatomical images of exceptional quality in one simple procedure.
At Lankenau Hospital, residents will work with the below equipment:
-
Digital Mammography
-
3T MRI Technology
-
Advanced IR Imaging, offering RF ablation, venous ablation, uterine artery embolization and chemoembolization techniques
-
Ability to provide Ultrasound, stereotactic and MR-guided breast biopsy procedures
Within the next six months, we will have a new state-of-the art, Interventional Radiology lab. Within the next year, we will have 64-slice or greater CT capability.
At Paoli Hospital, residents will work with the below equipment:
-
State-of-the-art Interventional Radiology Lab with Computerized tomography capabilities, offering RF tumor ablation, Laser
venous ablation, uterine artery embolization, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty.
-
Comprehensive Breast Health Center including Digital Mammography, Ultrasound, stereotactic and MRI biopsy procedures.
-
64-Slice Lightspeed CT scanner at our Collegeville site additional purchase is planned for the Hospital in the spring.
At Main Line Health, we are in the process of developing a CTA Reading Panel, in collaboration with Cardiology.
